story: ANDREAS VESALIUS
ElleMen Magazine
During the period of royal theocracy, human dissection was strictly prohibited. Scholars could gain only a crude understanding of human anatomy. However, a brave young man secretly dissected human corpses and discovered the secrets of the human body. His series of books, “De Humani Corporis Fabrica” included comprehensive anatomical text and accurate illustrations, which represented a major breakthrough in the history of anatomy. This one-page story was created for Elle Men Magazine (Jun 2016, the issue of “body”), to memorialize the father of modern anatomy – Andreas Vesalius.
