Trouble In Tokyo (Dub Mix)

Using a Pro Tools project recorded by students at the University of Northampton, I remixed a song by the group Surge. Originally in a rock style akin to U2, I re-arranged the processed the track to acheive a wildly different sound. I drew influence from early dub mixers such as Scientist and King Tubby for this - I'm rather pleased with the result!

Replicant - Curses

This track was co-written in 2011 by myself and Jan Krause for Replicant. It was written for two distorted guitars, bass guitar, drums and two vocalists, drawing on the sounds of Opeth, Fear Factory, and we used it to end our live sets with due to its' length. I play rhythm and acoustic guitars on this track. We recorded this take in 2012 at Flipside Studios in Coventry with Nathan Morris and Matthew Cotterill.

Leen live @ The NN Café 11/12/2015

This one im particularly proud of - this is Leen's live set in Northampton in 2015 for a University assessment. Here I'm playing bass guitar, and we peform a swing rendition of Pendulum's 'Witchcraft', a neo-version of Babra Streisand's 'Woman In Love' and a reggae interpretation of Pet Shop Boys' 'West End Girls'.

Solar Waves

This piece was based off of a piece of work I had done at The Univeristy of Northampton in my first year. Here, I've added distorted guitars, an acoustic drum program for a realistic sound and varied the arrangment. During the bridge, the key changes subtly from B to E briefly. I intend to use this track with my Cygnus project and eventually play it in to a live audience.

S.P.E.C.T.R.U.M - There Was A Girl

During my second term of my first year at The University of Northampton, a group of us formed a band named S.P.E.C.T.R.U.M to perform at The Roadmender on the 22/04/2016. For the show we decided to write an original song as a collaborative effort. The result is an alternative rock/metal song written in F, showcasing Nicole Drury's powerful vocals. I performed rhythm guitar and the first guitar solo on the track. The track was produced by myself with sound engineering being performed by Andrei Chetan and Luca Mazzati. I was repsonible for planning the recording session, arranging whom recorded when and spent time with each performer to try and get their best performance; for example, I would sit in the live room with them as an engineer would press record to help them relax. It was mixed by myelf suing Pro Tools HDX, and mastered by Matthew Back.

Chrome Attic - Words

Between 2014 and 2016 I collaborated regularly with Rugby group Chrome Attic, rehearsing and writing weekly. My main contribution were performing lead vocals and some ryhthm guitar, although I also assited in arranging some of their own compositions, this being one of them. Here, I perform the lead and harmony vocals and the track was also produced and mixed by myself.
S.P.E.C.T.R.U.M - 'Undercover Marytn' by Two Door Cinema Club

At the performance with S.P.E.C.T.R.U.M on 22/04/2016 at The Roadmender, we also performed a number of covers. This is our cover of the 2010 song 'Undercover Martyn'. I perform lead guitar on this song, using Orange Amps to get a biting overdrive for it.
Flying Whales

This particular piece was part of an ongoing personal exploration of electronic music and sound manipulation. Inspired by Aphex Twin's 'Selected Ambient Works 1 - 4' and Gojira's 'Flying Whales', I tried my hand at creating an track in the ambient electronic style, studying how artists use gradual shifts in timbres instead of whole new chord sequences to give their music movement. I used Pro Tools 12 to produce it, and it was mastered by Matthew Back.

Replicant - Hivemind

This track was written along with Curses and 10 others for the band Replicant between 2010 - 2013. This one again featured regularly in our live set; however you can hear a bigger influence of industrial metal and death metal compared to progressive rock or metal. It was co-written by myself, Richard Smith and Jan Krause. We self-recorded this track along with two others, and together with Curses was released as an EP. Produced and mixed by Matthew Back with Sound Engineering performed by me.
Red Autumn Leaves

Amongst collaborating with musicans and performing live, I also record and produce my own music for fun. This one is an acoustic piece, encompassing two acoustic guitars and Xpand! 2 on Pro Tools to acheive a flute and violin sounds. I took inspiration from Jefferson Airplane's 'Today' and Opeth's 'To Bid You Farewell', aiming for a folk-esque sound. I recorded it using a AKG 414 on the body and an SM57 on the neck.
