The Conservative Party's most successful fun raising DM piece, created at a time when Tony Blair was under increased scrutiny as Prime Minister for the WMD Gulf war claims and other 'stealth tax' rises that had seemingly crept in despite Election promises not to raise taxes. The iconic Pinnochio nose was picked up by the press who believed this was to be the next big election campaign by the Conservatives.
