Porsche Panamera Holographic Display
For Porsche Schweiz AG I created a short film that was used in a holographic display at the Porsche showrooms throughout Switzerland.

The goal was to create a presentation of the new Panamera before the actual car was available for display. The technique was a holographic display that has been done before using iPads. Here the Agency (Vizner Borell) wanted to take this a step further and make it bigger. A 57" TV was laid down horizontally from where the image was projected onto an upside down glass prism.

Key was to generate footage with a high contrast on a black background, so only the lighter parts would get reflected and the rest would be see through. For the holographic effect to work best it is also important, that there is no reference to the edge of the frame, i.e the image should be centered without touching the edges.

I used some high contrast footage from Porsche but we also specifically generated images in 3D. Some internal parts we rendered in a x-Ray look and I composited them into the realistic renderings adding distortion effects to give holographic feeling (think princess Lea...).

Four copies of the same film are projected onto each side of the plexiglass pyramid to give the impression of an actual 3D object floating in mid air when walking around the display.
This is the Image that is projected onto one side of the pyramid, hence the triangular framing.
