40 seconds of looping animation made for an art show themed "monsters".
Sound design by Martin Bezuijen.
Each monstrous face comes from a different place, a different culture. They all are chosen for their similar facial expression, the exaggeration of their beastly looks. The "mask", as it is meant to look, is only visible for a brief moment. The rest of the time a transformation occurs, left partly uncontrolled. Creating a new chimera during each transition.
The project is about the universal and permanent fascination for the "monster" and the images it generates, evoking the relationship between man and its own bestiality.
From top left to bottom right:
Mahakala mask (Thibet) / ritual mask (woyo) / octopus hunter mask (Kwakwaka'wakw) / Zardoz (holywood) / jaguar god axe (olmec )

dancing mask (Inuit) / Tschäggättä mask (Valais) / Hanuman Topeng (Bali) / Somen mask (japan) / Mascaron (France)
