DSDH FALL 2016 | POWER TOOL
a 4 day design course
In the fall 2016 we were hired as guest teacher at 'The Scandinavian Design College / Den Skandinaviske Designhøjskole'. We had 4 days with the students from furniture/room/product design line. We had made them a tight schedule to let them experiencing as many faces of the design process as possible.

"A power tool is a tool that is actuated by an additional power source and mechanism
other than the solely manual labour used with hand tools. The most common types of power tools
use electric motors. Internal combustion engines and compressed air are also commonly used"
 - Wikipedia

The task was to design a power tool in four days. To start by they had to do a quick brainstorm of different objects they could make to a power tool. After this they had to do a persona that would help them define the context and shape of their design concept. They also had to sketch and build quick mock ups to explore different design possibilities. In the end they had to do a painted foam prototype of their finished design along with a marker rendering and a short description about their product.

Thanks to our students for an amazing week!
