The Khokhloma painting for Okskoe beer cans

There was a limited edition series for the Okskoe beer brand. The series was devoted to the Khokhloma painting – word famous Russian wood painting handicraft style and national ornament, known for its vivid flower patterns. My idea was to develop special ornament by the Khokhloma Painters for Okskoe beer can. Khokhloma painting was first appeared in the second half of the 17th century in what is today known as the Koverninsky District of the Nizhny Novgorod Region The Okskoe beer is also was born in the same region and was proud to celebrate Khokhloma painting on a limited edition of the packaging.

Khokhloma Painters had developed special ornaments for each can. Totally were three cans – three ornaments. After these ornaments was carefully included to the can’s designs according to all issues of the can production technology and Khokhloma’s canons.
First can has a canonical Khokhloma’s “design” with traditional black background and full set of traditional Khokhloma’s colors.
Second can was fulfilled traditional for Okskoe brand blue color scheme. It was very atypical solution for the Khokhloma Painters, who called this ornament “avant-garde”. But they like it :-)
Third can is also canonical Khokhloma’s “design” with traditional red background and bronze/gold flowers.
A marketing head office of our beverage can supplier (Ball-REXAM) told us, that’s it was one of the beautiful can series which was made by them.
