Sawaab Public School at Naigaon
Owner Shaikh Jaweed Sarfaraz gave the concept of 'Sawaab' meaning recompense from the almighty. He said if you build a road or a well you are closer to god. Building a school for him was a similar act.
Conceived as a little village near the Naigaon village the architecture is inspired by the vernacular, with well crafted brickwork, a few places using the more expensive stonework, innovative portals and Mangalore tiles on purlin-cum-battens. Here are the pictures of the work as it progressed.
A residential school was planned in 1995 with 10 classrooms, administration, dining, kitchen, dormitories, staff quarters and a laboratory. The 14 acre site was near the Prayagdham off Pune Sholapur road.
Chandrakant Polke (centre) and his brothers were gifted craftsmen who had won the Rajiv Gandhi award for masonry.
