National Park College in Hot Springs, Arkansas held a voting contest among its student body, staff, and alumni to select a new mascot for the school. The winning name by an overwhelming margin was 'Nighthawks'. Nighthawks are a type of hawk native to Arkansas with unique white striping on their wings, tail, and neck. In need of a logo to represent this new school mascot, NPC contacted me to design an aggressive nighthawk with these distinct features, which were later introduced at a pep rally.
