User Interface Design, Programming
Tyrant is a Rubik's Cube based experience brought into a 3D world, with levels that randomly turn the cubes a set number of times.

My Duties
This project was created in a small group for a college course the whole team was in.  Along with myself Tyrant was created by Jeremy Behreandt and Jered Hoff.  My jobs in this project were User Interface Design for the player and Menu Navigation Programming.

User Interface Design:

I worked with Jeremy to create a UI for the player which is seamless and doesn't pull the player out of the experience.  We came up with the idea of physically always seeing the cube on the screen, and after choosing a level "shifting" the screen to focus on the cube. So when a player chooses a level the current UI goes away and the camera shifts to focus alone on cube.

The options and credits menu bring up panels with several different available changes for the player to choose from.  Some of these changes being the color of the cube, the control scheme, and the volume.  The level buttons keep and update the best times for each level, and further levels stay locked until the previous levels are completed.  As well, these times and level locks can be reset via the Reset button.

The first screen seen by the player when they first load up the game.  This is the original color scheme as well.

This picture shows the options menu, as well as the blue color scheme of the game.  Changing color schemes also changes the colors of the panel and buttons.

Menu Navigation Programming:

While Jeremy was the lead of programming, I did any programming that had to do with the UI and Menu Navigation.  The time I spent programming on this project was spent learning how to keep and constantly record level locking and best level times.  As well as how to display and update them on the menu, remembering the scores when the app reopens.

This screenshot shows the map of the cube.  Notice how each side connects together like one big line.  Also shown here is the victory screen after finishing a cube.

This screenshot shows the green color scheme as well as a mixed up cube that has yet to be solved.
