THE DISEASE
AN ILLUSTRATED POEM ABOUT THE PAINFUL JOURNEY OF DEPRESSION.
...Light & easy - life is good,
but you feel a little sad.
“Perhaps it’s the weather. I know I’ll be better
and anyway life isn’t too bad!”...
...All of a sudden, you recall -
your worst and darkest times.
Those thoughts creep up just like The Disease
and you lose all control of your mind!...
...“Maybe I’ll stay busy and away from the world,
a distraction ought to do me good!”.
But solace, just like company is not your friend
and you’ve lost it - like you knew you would...
...So you cake on a mask, step out again
but the smile you wear is so fake.
You try and try to make the most of it all,
but a little while is all you can take!...
...Suddenly you break down and you don’t know why-
“what on earth is happening to me?”.
You can’t stop the tears, the darkness consumes
and you accept that you’ve got The Disease...
