Rhythm And Cycles

City Life

These set of photographs are taken in London. These photos show the rhythm and cycle of the people, traffic and water traffic in London City. There are also many photographs of rhythms in buildings such as a repeat pattern. There are also many photographs of the London eye this is to show the cycle of that of how it moves around. All of these photographs have a rhythm or cycle of the London lifestyle.
Henri-Cartier Bresson- City Life AnalysisI would describe this images as humorous because of the way the photograph has captured the man jumping as he looks like he is floating in air. I would also describe this image as chaotic because of the surroundings that the man is in because the area looks quite frantic due to the destruction around it. This is a black and white photograph and the tonal range is quite wide because there are so many different shades of the colours that are used in the photograph. The colours are quite harmonious because it’s not over the top of the colour that are being used so its quite a calming colour to use. The tone of this image is subtle and muted because its not over the top and if it was in colour there would be so many different colours to look at because so much is going on in the photograph. The light source is natural lighting because of the way that the photograph has been taken outside in a natural area. There is one light source, and the lighting quality is quite soft because it isn’t to over lighted. The light is coming from above you can see this because the light is reflecting on the water. The composition of this photograph is unsymmetrical and unbalanced because the there is nothing in this photograph that in symmetrical and balanced. The way it is laid out is that it has objects all over the place in the photograph. The photograph has been taken from a distant viewpoint it is this because it is not a close up of the person and you cannot see either of the people in the photograph facial expressions. There is a flattened perspective because the photographer has made the photograph look 2D instead of it being a 3D photograph. The type of lens used is standard. This is a black and white image, which means there is a limited tonal range in this photograph. The strongest elements in this photograph is the tonal contrast because it makes the photograph look gloomy which gives it a feel to the image. Also in this photograph the other strongest element is the man in this photograph and making him look like he is floating on the water. The genre of this photograph is documentary,  it could be categorized as explanatory because the photograph also shows you what is going on in the image itself. This photograph is important because it provides a look at an everyday experience because this is city life in the not so rich areas of London so it gives you an outlook on what life would be like travelling to and from work. I will link this to my photographs by taking photographs of people doing there everyday life in London
Recycling
These set of photographs are of bottles which can be recycled, i used these set of photographs to do experiments with in the exam.
Close up Analysis- James WojcikI would describe this image as traditional I would say it is this because the way that it is set out, it is very plain and simple in the way that the bottles are set out and that the tallest are at the back and the shortest are at the front. This image is black and white; the tonal range of this image is a wide tonal range because all different shades of black and white are used. The light source is artificial because of the way is reflecting off of the bottles and that you cannot see any shadows. There is one light source in this image because you can see the clear lighting on one side of the bottle. The lighting quality of this image is soft due to it being not overly lit and that you can see the one side of the bottles being lit up. Also the light quality is strong because the light source is reflecting off of the bottle, which brightens up the photograph. The light source is coming from one side of the objects because you can see the clear lighting on one side of the bottles. The composition of this photograph is unsymmetrical & unbalanced because the bottles are all different sizes so that it is not symmetrical, also it is unbalanced because there more things around the base of the photograph. The photograph is weighted at the bottom of the photograph because there are more things around the base of the bottles and the bottles are thicker at the bottom of the photograph. The photograph has been taken from a low viewpoint because it is not directly in front of the objects in the photograph it is at a slight slant. The type of lens used in this photograph wide angle lens because of the way that the photograph has been taken, because it is not a close up of the elements in the photograph. There is a flattened perspective because you can’t tell that the objects are 3D in this photograph. I think this photograph strongest element is the black and white contrast because not all of the colours of the bottles and the other things in the photograph are not over powering. For my photographs I will be taking I will link my photographs to the bottles in the photograph for recycling, In my photographs I will try different angles so that the photographs are not that traditional.
