These two art works were created for internation BIO-ART contest of visual art (South Korea, Seoul). 

I am thankful for an ability to take part in this contest and to become one of the winners in the category of honorable mention.

About the contest

Medicinal Bioconvergence Research Center (Biocon) from Seoul National University, Seoulin Bio Science,  and Gwacheon National Science Museum are jointly holding the “2016 Bio-Art Contest”. This contest is the cultural event for science and art to figure out the beauty of our life and to project this beauty to artwork.

This is the 4th year event for Bio-art contest. This year, the event would be done in the international level and richer than ever. Other related programs such as workshop would be held with the exhibition of invited artists. With the participation of famous domestic and foreign artists, the quality of contest would be much higher and more public would be interested in participating in the contest as well.

For the bio scientists, it would be the time for thinking back to their own studies and to have creative time to think about the value of their research. Also, it would be the opportunity for general public to become interested in bio science, which would be the framework for further advance.

As well, it would be an opportunity for the public to become more familiar to science and art, which are generally difficult field to come closer. This effort would not only make science friendly to the public but also give chance to think about the value and beauty of the ‘life’.

HUMAN-LEAFAGE

There is a second work, illustrating that human and nature are inseparable. The mind of a human as a leaf - it grows and achieves something, what is higher. But - his mind has not any value, if there is no place for which it is needed. So - allways keeping in our minds, that nature and we - are the one.

HUMAN-BIRD

A human and nature - are great creators. They supplement each other. This illustration shows that these two points of the universe are the one: human like a bird and a bird is as a human. Why because we have to think in parallel not only about ourselves, but about us and nature in the same way: while the bird will survive - the human will stay alive as well.
