Irresponsible lending and borrowing throughout history has led to recurrent debt crises over the centuries. Nevertheless, there are hardly any rules for responsible financing internationally. The first video in the series lists three outrageous examples of irresponsible lending, and gives advice on how to prevent recurrence.
The Norwegian Government Pension Fund Global, popularly known as The Oil Fund, is well known for its ethical guidelines. Lesser known is the fact that almost one-fifth of the fund's investments, the purchases of government bonds, are not subject to these guidelines. The second video explains why this is a concern and appeal to make the guidelines count in both cases.
Despite the fact that the world has seen recurrent debt crises for hundreds of years, there is no international mechanism to deal with these. This video explains the difficulty of solving debt crises when hedge funds are involved, and propose the establishment of an international independent body for this purpose.
