Providing robust information about government services and benefits is a requirement for agencies in the 21st century. However, there are still large swaths of the population who do not have the skills required to access this information online.
BYO developed outreach plans and materials to get the word out about VetsAdvisor, the veterans portal we designed in 2011. This included collateral and marketing plans meant for a range of audiences, from veterans young and old, to veterans’ family members, to government officials and community members. Since such a large portion of Massachusetts veterans community is older and may be less comfortable using computers and the internet, we also created an online digital literacy curriculum for use by librarians, senior center workers, and friends + family of older veterans. This curriculum contains printable and interactive resources that cover the basics of using a computer, mouse, and keyboard, connecting to the internet, and using the VetsAdvisor.
