Initial Senior Collection
Initial six-look senior collection created fall quarter of senior year. After 150 croqui sketches and 50 fully rendered illustrations, this was the outcome. The collection was a result of the search for a deeper understanding  of hand knitting and jointly, inspired by the Japanese tsunami. The images of the tsunami included rubble, broken streets, and shattered geometric buildings. These images were a play on juxtaposing textures and the idea of broken organic lines. With the use of large gauge yarns and smaller yarns in interesting, highly textural stitch patterns; this gave a structured appearance to the usual, forgiving knits. The play on sheers masking the hand knit was an ongoing scheme that touched base on the idea of an exoskeleton, masking a broken human form and lastly, the theme of the origin of clothing: to protect. Initial materials included organza, wool cashmere's and many interesting yarns.
