Drawing
Ladrón roba ladrón
To Rob a Thief
To rob athief is a series composed of drawings that are inspired, appropriated or evenlifted off of the work of Weegee (Arthur Feelig). His photographs appeared indifferent New York newspapers throughout the 1930’s and 1940’s. This series isan act of piracy. And it is motivated by my wish to homage the work of a greatartist and, also, by my taste for fabulation. This is mostly represented by theinclusion of small fictions: anachronisms, self portraits and other artifactsthat are not present in the originals. I believe my piracy of Weege’s work hascertain affinities with his own practices, which is why I only work with thoseimages of his in which the subject did not want his image to be taken.
