this exhibit was designed in a fourth year architecture studio.  the origin of the idea came from our professor asking us to pick an item that was made up of at least five pieces.  from there he told us to design an exhibit for that item so that our users can better understand that item.
the object i chose was a pen.  the pen is a mighty tool yet very unnoticed.  instead of making one object, i chose to make a field of objects that you differentiate through colors but ultimately you see as a field or whole.  to force users into an always awkward position, the surface you write on is always changing around you. and the pens are attached through stretch cord, so it is always pulling away from you.
production time took about 24 hours straight, the welding taking the most time.
designed in rhino, array of pens articulated in grasshopper.
an analysis of where each pen is likely to be used via a distance calculation in grasshopper.
a pen broke causing creating a new look, i liked it, the administration in my school did not.
