Japanese bookbinding project based on a short paragraph story "On Exactitude in Science" by Jorge Luis Borges.
Koto is a beautiful traditional Japanese music instrument which I found losing the spotlight. The story of this book I created touches on how younger generations are losing their interests in traditional Japanese instruments over modern contemporary pop culture. The story starts with a young sakura tree, waiting to be bloomed.
Soon Spring arrives and sakura starts to bloom. This full bloom of sakura tree metaphors the climax of Koto period when people used to appreciate Koto music more.
However, just like how fast sakura fades, the climax of Koto period faces the fall.
At the end of the story, the entire sakura fade away and Koto period faces tragedy.
