In an effort to restore Nayong Pilipino, Parkfest Philippines was held last May 2016. The Parkfest Philippines team commissioned several artists to create various artworks to be showcased inside the park. My task was to draw on a kalesa, a horse-drawn carriage widely used in the Philippines. The theme was centered around Filipino traits and attitudes.
Using a set color scheme of teal, orange, and yellow (a derivation of the Philippine flag’s colors), I spent two full days drawing letters and phrases on an entire kalesa using a new medium - paint markers. It was definitely a challenge worth taking and an experience worth remembering.
