One of my biggest frustrations with news apps is navigation.  I have a hard time quickly finding the information I want when I want it.  Customized news feeds are great, but when I'm looking for something outside those specifications, I have issues.  This landing page is designed to resolve those issues.  Large buttons for common topics, a drop down menu for the date the user wants to see, a side bar with current temp, menu, and local sports.

The "Local" news page includes the top local news stories in addition to the side menu bar and button at the bottom for customized news interests.

the interior weather page has a large button for today's detailed forecast and another for a GPS enabled radar feed with weather related news stories listed below.  Living in Oklahoma, we tend to be particularly interested in easily finding radar feeds during severe weather, but it isn't always easy to find.  Of course, the side menu bar, and button for customized news stories are present on every page.
