“Without the Words” is an exhibition inspired by Irish Children's Laureate PJ Lynch's “The Big Picture”. Lynch promotes visual storytelling and the power of imagination. Illustrators Ireland is a community of professional illustrators working together to actively promote the craft and the art form, that is illustration.
Here's a short video of me in the early stages of inking the loose pencils of my piece for the show..Had to work on it at the kitchen table as it was to big for my studio set up! My idea was to depict a large colourful group of fictional characters tumbling around a young child's imagination. The boy is left in black and white line to represent a separation between the richness of his inner life and the real world.
I love the feel of steel nib on paper!
