A barreira física à descarga da estilha no Porto de Leixões, construída por parede com três níveis de contentores marítimos, explora o princípio metafórico do objecto que representa aquilo que parece, mas também apresenta outra coisa diferente do que é. Trata-se de um equipamento portuário (construído para pôr termo ao descontentamento da população contra a poeira da estilha).
It is the physical barrier to the chip discharge in Leixões Seaport, built by a wall with three levels of sea containers exploring the metaphorical principle of the self-represented object, but creating meaningful bridges towards the other different from itself. It is a port equipment (built in order to put an end to the population discontent against the chip dust), with about eight meters height for almost four hundred length assuming a new communication role as as interface between the Leixões Seaport (APDL) and the urban community.
In this barrier, in white, there are several extracts from the "Ode Marítima" poem from Álvaro de Campos (the naval engineer, Fernando Pessoa heteronym) and, in black, iconographic elements referring to the mechanized modernist functionalism from Futurism, to the life aboard and to the Portuguese sea exports.
Esta parede com cerca de oito metros de altura por quase quatrocentos de comprido, dava uma nova imagem ao porto de Leixões, constituindo uma extraordinária interface de comunicação com o público e com a cidade. Nesta barreira lêem-se a branco, trechos do poema de Álvaro de Campos (o engenheiro naval), e a negro elementos iconográficos alusivos ao funcionalismo modernista mecanizado que se associa à vida a bordo e às exportações de Portugal.
