Midtown Athletic Club Topping Out Party

DMAC Architecture Announces Topping Out of Midtown Athletic Club Construction Friday, October 7th
CHICAGO, IL – Sept 28th, 2016 – DMAC Architecture marks the milestone of the Midtown Athletic Club’s steel topping out as the last structural metal beam is put into place on Friday, October 7th at 11:00 a.m.  Located at the newly designed intersection of Elston, Damen, and Fullerton Avenues, the final piece of steel will be hoisted into place within the six-story structure, marking the next phase of the exciting Midtown project.

Two years after concept development began, October 7th marks an exciting time for everyone involved.  The project, commissioned by Steven Schwartz, CEO of Midtown Athletic Club, aims to further improve customer experiences and deliver a new state-of-the-art lifestyle center in Chicago for tennis, fitness, and more.  Midtown hired Evanston-based DMAC Architecture to spearhead the project and with the talented team behind the design, helmed by DMAC Principal Dwayne MacEwen, the architecture and design of the project is a focal point.
Midtown consists of 120,000 square feet of installations, including a 55-room boutique hotel, and is scheduled to open during the summer of 2017. The new sports facility connects to the already existing indoor tennis courts on the ground level, the heart and soul of Midtown. Two new pools, both indoor and outdoor; and two floors entirely dedicated to the health of both the body and mind, positions Midtown as one of the premier, all-encompassing fitness centers nationwide.
The interior of Midtown boasts a structural metal frame selectively revealing itself in common areas for a modern vibe.  This design decision, in combination with the tennis courts’ exposed original brick walls, provides the building with an industrial aura grounding it to the city of Chicago and, more specifically, to its historic location.
