VEX Robotics - Highschool

In my highschool, I participated in my VEX Robotics team for a total of 3 years, taking on roles such as being the team leader, mentor and head designer. With the team being new when I joined my sophomore year, I was intrigued by all the intricacies that came with designing a working robot and I personally pursued how to use the easyC program (required for each robot's microcontroller) and self-taught myself key design techniques.

My duties included mentoring fellow team members in easyC and helping others troubleshoot coding bugs. I also led collaborative efforts of designs between the 3 teams present at my school, developing an ideal universal drivetrain in VEXCAD my junior year that was used over the course of my time on the team. I also provided advice for new members in soldering, cutting metal and using power tools in the lab.

Additionally, I logged all of my ideas, challenges and rough designs in a lab notebook over my years on the club, using it to learn from past shortcomings and provide a database of previous designs for future teams to come. Robotics was one of my most memorable experiences in highschool, inspiring me to pursue my current field in college.
