The pattern was developed in line with the client's brief, for alternative fashion apparel for girls. The brief asked for a floral with 'fairy skeletons', with one version on a dark background, and another with brighter colors. 

I had a lot of fun positioning the poor dried up fairies among the foliage and giving them interesting gestures that would work well within the general flow of the floral print.

The pattern is also available on a number of different products in my RedBubble and Society6 stores. 

We agreed that adding some small flowers sprouting from the fairy skeleton bones and vines curling around the rose branches would help the skeletons blend into the pattern. 

The design needed to be ready for screen printing so I kept it down to eight colors in separate layers.

Coming up with dramatically different colorways proved to be easy and fun.
