The Land of Lignite
“The «Land of Lignite» is a project about industrial photography, which took place on one of the largest export mines of lignite (in Megalopolis, Arcadia). The factory, uses a large part of lignite, sometimes referred to as brown coal, has high moisture content and is used primarily as fuel for steam-electric power generation.
The land surface is dedicated to mining activities until it can be reshaped and reclaimed.
These images are a direct recording of the industrial process. The purpose of this photographic task is not only the projection of environmental and mining but also a reminder to the concerns regarding the relationship human-landscape.
