Silent Struggle

A handmade and tactile illustration for TIME article titled "Why Kesha's Court Case Matters To All Women" by Laura Bates, published Feb 2016. A mix of lasercutting and 3D printing and finishing processes were used to build this piece.

I aimed to illustrate how Kesha's treatment from the legal system and general public spotlights the vicious negativity faced by thousands of women who speak out about sexual violence. This system works to silence victims and diminish the hope and confidence of those who are debating whether or not to come forward. During my conceptual process and production phase, I worked to create solutions that were as sensitive as they were real. As Kesha's case evolved throughout the months, I followed along viewing the different perspectives of her story. Since completing this piece, it has become more of a visual statement for every court case that has failed to effectively protect women against sexual violence. Read the article here.
