In Jerusalem: visiting the Dome of the Rock
When I took this picture I din't know whom I had asked to be photographed with my son. I basically wanted to have a positive souvenir about our visit to Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. The man whom I had asked behaved in a kind way and we had a little talk about Islam and Al Andalus. When arriving home I realised that he was the Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Ali Omar Yacoub Abbasi.
Although taking prepared portraits is not common in my projects about tourism around the world, I really like this picture. I think that it illustrates tourists' purpose of idealising their relationship with the people that they meet when discovering new places with their camera.
Furthermore, it let us be aware of how this positive way of approaching different cultures when travelling can be a path towards conquering peace over the world.
