The Cadillac Glasses Project

This is the introduction to my thesis project while studying at Columbia College Chicago. It was intended to merge my two majors - Industrial Design and Film - into a skill set: the storytelling of design and form languages.

The second stage of this project was to translate Cadillac's design language into a piece of furniture without automotive components. The goal was to capture the expression of the car non obviously.

The third part of this project was to study the culture surrounding the cars. As a filmmaker, documentary film is the best way to get to know people and their connection with things. I used my documentary classes at Columbia to help me learn how to make short films about owners and the connections with their cars. Here is the first short documentary I made in the series.

This is the final piece of the thesis project. Although it is a work in progress, it encapsulates my thinking at the time of my graduation at Columbia.
