Never easy to make a birth card for one of your own... This is my third actually... Quite a story attached to this one.

When we were expecting Polly, she was diagnosed through echography with a -what at that time was assumed to be a- cyste in her abdomen, the size of a golf ball. Not much the doctors could do at that point, so we were in for two more months of uncertainty and anxiety. As a way of dealing with those emotions at that point we decided the birth card theme had to have something to do with the cyste...

So I came up with the marble run idea.

Two months later when Polly was finally born, it turned out, she actually had a rare intestinal athresia, which required some extensive surgery the very first day she was born. A challenging time for both her and us as a family. We owe a lot of credit to the awesome people at the NICU of UZ Ghent, for pulling her through! After 57 days at the NICU, we finally got to take her home. She actually turned two, a little while back. She's one feisty lady!
