When I think of something ‘big’, the first things that came to my mind are global issues like war or famine. However, big issues are very subjective to each individual’s perception and an issue that I hold very close to my heart is of mental illness stigma. This series of photographs is meant to show how the male gender is as sensitive to the issue as the female. Statistics has proven that despite female having a higher rate in suicide attempt due to depression and other mental illnesses, male has a much higher success rate. I want to show that through the use of feminine color pink to educate and reduce stigma against mentally ill men, to allow the sufferers to be able to not have to ‘man up’ and not discuss about their issues anymore.
