Embassy worked with Velocity's up-and-coming director Ryan Isted with producer Tshogofatso Phiri and alongside agency 7 Dffrnt Knds of Smke on this stop motion commercial for Vodacom.
The commercial is made up of 428 individual frames of animation, each one painted by two graffiti artists on location around Johannesburg. It took 230 cans of spray paint, 340 liters of paint and 15 days to shoot.
Going through over 20 000 photographs Embassy selected images and created an edit that would best illustrate the story. Preparing images by matching scale and colour balance of all the chosen frames was needed to get the timing and flow of the animation as smooth as possible while still capturing Ryan's vision.
Compositing involved adding various elements and a final grade to further enhance the captured animation and storyline. Sound design and Final mix were also done by Embassy to add to the quirky nature of the animation concept.
