How It Started
Salon62 is a local hair salon originally located in Atascadero, CA. Owner, Kim Boege, is a curly hair specialist with a proficiency in DevaCurl techniques.
I discovered Kim in a desperate attempt to find a stylist that could help with my unmanageable and hopeless curly hair. Kim does amazing work and I was absolutely in love with my curls after she worked her magic. I needed her to help me with my hair difficulties and she needed somebody to help her create marketing and ads for her salon and I was eager to help.

Shortly after our first meeting, Kim told me that she would soon be acquiring a second salon in San Luis Obispo, CA called, Ahshé Day Spa and Salon. So, she would need advertising for both locations.
Flyers and Coupons
The first request was a small flyer that could be handed out by all the stylists at Salon62 while at wineries and other events to help advertise their business. With the note that Kim liked blue and gold, I was left to my own devices to design. Kim gave it the "ok" and it was printed and sent out.
The second project involved coupons and a greater resemblance to the Salon62 logo at the time. Kim needed a wall cling-on type poster to display the deal the salon was having as well as business card-sized handouts. Salon62 South was the planned name of the San Luis Obispo salon once the business name could be changed.
During the in-between time of the south salon's name change, Emy, a stylist at the south salon, wanted to have her own coupon cards to hand out to locals in the downtown area.
Focus on Salon62 South
The two official names of the salons were changed to Salon62 North (Atascadero) and Salon62 South (SLO). It was time to focus on getting the new south location completed. At the south location, there is a back door that leads to a small enclosed garden that is shared with a next door coffee shop. The salon has a small, brick building in the back for a relaxing spa time. Kim wanted to have a sign hung on the small building to advertise to the coffee shop locals who enjoyed their drinks in the back garden.
Once the Salon62 names were set, a new logo was created for the two salons. I several business cards with each location on them for Kim.
Kim also needed advertisements for the San Luis Obispo County Visitor's Guide. These were created to focus marketing on her curly hair specialty. The photos used are of her daughter, who is her inspiration for curly hair stylist training.
One of the last projects needed were menus showing all the services that the salon has to offer. Purple and gold were the chosen color scheme.
Sunshine, Salon62 South's esthetician, wanted a postcard-sized advertisement to be placed in the salon's back garden for the locals. The postcard advertised a new deal for new clients.
