For this project, we were suppose to make seasonal post cards with only one color front and back with line art and a quote or poem. I chose to make up a fake drum company, made the logos and made them as if the company was sending them out to promote up and coming sales and events.
Summer Front : I designed the "Drake Drums" logo in illustrator and the rest was made in InDesign. I chose to use the ferris wheel from the navy pier Chicago.
Summer Back: For the city scape, I found a great high resolution pic of downtown Chicago and then added a logo for my fake company that I made in illustrator.
Fall Front: The Idea behind this post card was simple yet sexy. I have always loved back and white photos and think they have such a sexy aspect behind them. So I found a wonder photo of this ride cymbal and turned it black and white in photoshop. Then I thought it would look awesome to take a quote from Gene Krupa and let the text follow the edge of the cymbal. For the logo, I used a modified version of my Spring logo cause i believed it looked very romantic with the rest of the design.
Fall Back: For the the back part, I used another black and white photo of a drum kits and wrote "fall sale" going up the side of the floor tom.
Winter Front: For this card I wanted to use a cool color to give the client the idea that it was cold to touch. I used a high resolution photo from the colorado mountains to add that winter feel. For the logo design, I wanted to make something modern, so I came up with the what I call "aztec" logo.
Winter Back: For the back I got a high resolution pic of a bundle of drum sticks. I turned them side ways and was going to add the info about the event on the drumsticks themselves but decided to reuse the front logo.
Spring Front: The idea behind this post card is that the drum company is hosting a drum workshop with the drummer from Dropkick Murphy's. My original idea had a lot of pics and made it look like a hand made piece for a punk show flyer, but it was way to busy and decided to go very simple. I found a few great studio photos of the drummer that I was able to use and turn green for St.Patricks Day. The logo was made in illustrator.
Spring Back: For the back I played around with many different ideas for the lay out be went with the white and green stripes.
