Each coordinate includes a bed, a night lamp, a fan and lockable storage space large enough to house any standard suitcase or knapsacks. The coordinate can lock and unlock from the inside only, meaning that guests can have full privacy and protection when sleeping. Being mounted on casters, their mobile nature allows for the configuration of the Coordinate hostel to change freely, depending on the amount of guests and/or groups staying the night.
Coordinate’s modular units and unique role as both a place for overnight accommodation and a place for social gathering within the community makes Coordinate a cultural hub for interaction, discussion, and exploration which challenges the current divide between personal and interpersonal space in Western culture.
Visitors to the hostel can be fully immersed in Richmond’s current events and history through various interactive media resources throughout the space, or can befriend locals at the bar downstairs to get the scoop on Richmond events and spots to see.
