as one of the main representatives of street art, graffiti’s essence lies in its illegality and chosen sites, like subways and latrines, under bridges or on walls in public areas. However, graffiti has gone through an evolution from taking place on streets, with its declaration of freedom and revolt, to being delicately displayed and hung on the walls in galleries. The change provokes a heated debate about graffiti created on streets or for galleries, in terms of their different sites, forms, styles, intentions and the relationship between artists and audience.By showing a ‘battle’ between an energetic group of young street artists, Parents‘ Parents (HK) and a successful graffiti-artist-turned-gallery-artist, Smash137 aka Adrian Falkner (Basel),    Street VS Gallery wants to offer new angles and insights for audience to rethink the value and the future trend of graffiti writing.
