SX70 MOSAICS - THE VINTAGE YEARS OF POLAROID

POLAROID SX-70 images from the 'Golden Years' of Polaroid - the 1980s
Fron the exhibition catalogue interview . . . .

These images are derived from photo-mosaics created fromPolaroid SX70 films and cameras. The designs come from living with the imagesand by arranging and rearranging them until they work as conceptual pieces.

Many times a preliminary design layout is done right on thespot—the footpath or car bonnet straight after being shot.

SX70 photography is an exciting event with each imagecreation complete within minutes—without the usual magic of darkrooms, chemicalsand that “I wonder how they will turn out” feeling. You get to experience thefinished result at the beginning.

First shown at Imagery Gallery: March 1983
Toured by the Queensland Arts Council throughout 1984
The first exhibition at the Gold Coast City Gallery:February 1985
Although these Polaroid mosaics are nearly 30 years old, the vibrancy, the clarity of design and presentation still excite me today ...

Please enjoy.
