The Northern California coast has seen some pretty big storms this year. That means big waves, and that attracts surfers. The 2010 Mavericks Big Wave contest took full advantage of these conditions resulting in some of the biggest paddle in waves ever ridden, some with faces as tall as 50 feet. (this will be another project). I live in a small coastal town 28 miles South of San Francisco, I love the ocean, I surf and I take photos. This is a short photographic documentary of some those waves and the guys who ride them.
