World of Speed was a racing session based game, wich developement was started by Slightly mad studios (http://www.slightlymadstudios.com/) and then by Allods Team (Mail.ru games https://wos.mail.ru/)
Now the project is closed, maybe it will be sold to some other studio, maybe not. It was a nice game and our players really loved it, unfortunately our company executives decided that it will not bring enough money, so there is no point in finish the development.
Some of UI's and features are not finished, we didn't had enough time. Our team did enormous work: new UI, new UI technology (1st AAA project with CoherentUI as UI engine, so its all in HTML+JS+CSS), new resource system, and many other cutting edge technologies. Very sad, that we can't finish this project, but it was great experience anyways.
It's challenges UI
It's like quests in MMORPG, not only the way to get more rewards each day but also the way to acquire some very useful items and even elite cars. There is no need to apply quests like in other MMORPG, if a challenge displayed here, so player can complete it, progress will count automatically if restrictions are passed.
This UI is very simple, it consists of the following basic parts:
• challenges plates
Represent groups of challenges. Some challenges are in daily rotation, some challenges are about unlocking elite cars etc. If some challenge is completed—plate is marked with check mark, player always shall visit and collect his reward for completed challenges, this way we support player to always explore this feature and be involved in this feature.
This plate is a universal container, challenges can vary from very simple with one counter and simple reward, to complex challenges which are actually quest chains. E.g. in elite chain there is a global progress and subchallenges each with their restriction, progress and rewards. After completing a subchallenge the global chain counter increases by 1.
Unlocking an elite car
After player completes the chain—elite car unlocks and he will be able to buy it, we inform about this with popup. If player don't buy car immediately, he can always do it in showroom, once it's unlocked.
Challenges was one of the major features in the game, and players really loved it. Hardcore players were really involved into elite cars chain, while casual players were very happy to get more reward for their activities. And we also achieve our goals in extending the time of the mediocre game session and forcing players to race on various cars.
