Injection Moulded Polaroid Display Stand
When designing products, it is essential to understand the constraints that one must work within. Manufacturing process and material selection can offer both constraints and solutions.
This brief was to design a product that consumers will want to use to display their Polaroid photos, however, the design must be taken to a fully finished state that is ready for manufacture and must be made by injection moulding on a specific machine (Negri Bossi eCanbio 180). Additional information such as machine running costs and annual batch quantities required were also given as a means to calculate exact unit cost.
Through research and execution, this design project has given a deeper industrial insight into the injection moulding process and has provided an opportunity to solve a range of technical problems associated with a simple product such as a display stand.
