OSU’s 2012 student expo showcased 140 designs from the apparel and interior design students. The judges for apparel design projects were Katie Campion of Campion Consulting; Claire Kennedy of Claire Kennedy Designs; and David Caldwell of David D'Angelo. They judged from a number of criteria including material choice, marketability and construction. Only two students from each class were awarded.

Flat pattern was used to create my design. The design is intended for a young career woman. I choose a woven bright green for the top. I rotated both the bust dart and the waist dart towards the neckline to create two curved darts. These darts give interest to the neckline. I chose to color block the dress with a monochromatic color scheme. The bottom has four pleats in the front which were converted from darts. I also added fullness around the hips and tapered it down to the hem. There is a zipper closure on center back.
