Old Point National Bank
Hampton, Virginia
History is central to Old Point Bank.  The new headquarters and branch will boost Hampton's downtown revitalization.  To connect with the historic area I designed a high level of detail that is required for a 19th century main street building.  To keep a retail feel the corners of the building are reduced in width and large storefront windows are featured.  The building features a circular motif with arched windows at the top floor and curved details at the columns and cornices.  To keep the building in scale with its neighbors wide entablature's run horizontally to juxtapose the vertical column grid.  50,000 sq. ft.
The interior design departs from the traditional exterior to embrace a more retail feel.
A key concept was to create an overall feeling of lightness, airiness and volume to create the sensation that you are in a welcoming place.
Floating wood canopies define each transaction zone and create an outdoor marketplace feel.  The curves give gesture to the otherwise grid like space.  The millwork is furniture like in design for an "at home" feel.
  Progressive Bank
Monroe, La
This bank required a traditional yet "Progressive" brand.  A neoclassical style with simple classical proportions and a circular colonnade evolved.  An inviting entry with lots of glass and bay windows was key to creating a welcoming feeling.  The 19,000 sq. ft. administration and retail facility incorporates a private banking zone along a main street.  The classic architecture reinforces the bank's brand idenity in the community.
The Community Photo Gallery is designed to attract attention and create a retail feel.  Creating a connection between the bank, its customers and the community.

National City Bank
Various locations, Florida
I was challenged to design a new prototype branch when Cleveland based National City Bank purchased two bank networks in Florida.  While embracing the attributes of two existing styles, I formed a third Florida Mediterranean style that was respectful of the regional vernacular.  The double gable allows for signage and drive thru connections at three sides. A front porch and over sized windows create a customer invitation. Thick mullions were used to create window display boxes with shades behind to protect from the harsh sun.  A kit of parts was designed to convert existing branches into the new brand that consisted of fresh, luminous colors and beach glass-like surfaces.
First National Bank of Weatherford
Weatherford,Texas
This branch bank was inspired by the historic architecture in the Fort Worth area.  Large windows were designed for a retail feel and community connection.
