405 DIALOGUES
Immersive Kinetic Light Installation
405 Dialogues is a kinetic site-specific installation that makes light and movement its key elements. The installation explores the relationship between light and the surrounding space by generating communication artifacts born by the interaction of these elements. 405 nanometres is the wave length of the visible light in this installation, an ethereal flux of 100 lasers in continuous evolution that dialogues with the surroundings.

405 Dialogues can be presented as an autonomous/independent installation or as a 10 minute live performance. An emotional crescendo where the bars oscillation, linked with the light and the sound, play with the perception of the point of view of the spectator.

A dialogue that calls the spectator to understand it’s dynamics.
405 Dialogues is composed of n. 3 aluminum disassemblable structures. Each structure has a 300 W electric motor that allows the structure to oscillate on the fulcrum. Each bar holds n.32 lasers 405 nanometers 20mW.

At the bottom of every structure, there is a box that hosts the electronic components There are 2 power supplies per structure.

Based on the indoor location that will host the installation, the number and power of the audio equipment and fog / smoke machine should be evaluated together with the technical service of the event organizer.

The direction is composed of 1 pc and 1 custom controller that sends the signals to the bars . There are required 6 civil powers.
custom electronics made by arduino - sparkfun shields - atx power supplies and a lots of soldering
the algorithm to control the motor movement and the lasers is doing with openframeworks
405 Dialogues was presented premiered at the 2016 RO-MAP Interactive Light Festival of Rome in the Palazzo Altemps cloister, one of the most prestigious ancient buildings in Rome. Over 5,000 people attended the performances during the three days of the festival, creating more than 60 replicas of the performance.
