Universal Declaration of Human Rights Installation

Part of the 'Rights Rites Writes' campus-wide initiative at the University of Dayton.

Intention: To visually articulate Article Six of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, to be a part of a group of four articles with a visually cohesive message, to be a part of a larger exhibit that would include all articles of the UDHR.

Inspiration: Chance to communicate how current happenings and initiatives are both supporting and ignoring this important human right, the idea of masking and revealing as it relates to human rights information circulation and availability.

Origin of choices: Red is intended as a warning color, fogginess portrays the haziness surrounding the hidden nature and lack of awareness of event it masks, industrial materials speak to the intended permanence of the UDHR and the irony of the contrasting ignorance of adherence to its principles.

Target audience: Participants of the Rights Rites Writes Human Rights Conference, UD students and faculty.

Designed & implemented in collaboration with Matt Weiler, Jenny Watercutter, and Sam Bidwell.
