C3 - Commune Connection
Student Accommodation
100 Musk Avenue, Kelvin Grove, QLD, Australia
The concept for this architectural commune for students arose from the potential connection and networks that could be created through the site connecting Queensland University of Technology Kelvin Grove Campus with the vibrant and lively Musk Avenue.
These networks and connections then formed interstitial spaces within the landscape and became perfect opertunities for green spaces and views from the surrounding spaces to look into. The main feature of this design would be the multiple entrance and exists situated on three different levels of the site and connecting the context.

On Musk Avenue there would be a public exhibition space that would invite the passer by on the street in with the angled walls and glass facades that showcase a sneak preview of the exhibits that are contained inside. The exhibition space also becomes the ramp up into the interactive design lab and gym spaces which can be utilized by the public.

The apartment, kitchen, dining and study spaces are then situated further away and are of a more private nature. There are still visual connections present between the "connectors" of the building but privacy is adhered to. The apartments all face north and have sufficient space for dwelling.
