Mesh Independent Surface InterpolationSurface Interpolation is a process which has been extensively used in various fields like Physics, Medicine, Geology, Hydrology, etc. With the advent of latest technologies to scan a 3D object, Surface interpolation is being used to create digital copy of the object. This object under study could be anything like human bodies, a toy or even the surface of the earth. Some applications in which surface Interpolation play an important role are: to view maps as terrains, 3D Animation, Robot control, Forensic documentation, medical imaging, Freeway redesign, etc.
The method proposed here is aimed at removing the limitation of meshes. By removing the mesh constraint there is a significant rise in performance and also there is more freedom for developers to improvise on the surface reconstruction algorithm and customize the processing procedure for different applications.
