Self initiated project exploring the movement and energy of my illustration work, the subject for this piece was centred around Nike tennis players at key moments during a game. To add life to the characters subtle movements were added to the limbs, facial features and hair using a variety of techniques. Simulated particles, ink and powder mixed with live action footage of ink in water was used to create the rest of the environment.
The illustrations were drawn using a mixture of traditional and digital mediums including squid ink, watercolour and digital paintbrushes. Each characters clothing has been updated to represent their latest Nike uniforms and footwear, furthermore facial features and poses we're recreated to provide more expression and opportunities for animation.
Athletes featured: Serena Williams, Roger Federer, Grigor Dimitrov, Rafael Nadal & Eugenie Bouchard.
