The Rough Hut - Festival Area 2016

Using 3D models I created in Sketchup proved extremely valuable throughout this project. From the initial proposal to the festival owners to describing the theme of the area to my team of volunteers I was able to quickly give them an idea of what I wanted to build.

Inspiration for the area was taken from the novel "The City of Bohane" by Kevin Barry which in its story is set in the post apocalyptic west coast of Ireland. In the book, he describes the music that is played out in the streets on giant sound systems. We tried our best to

In the book, he describes the music that is played out in the streets on giant sound systems. We tried our best to re-imagine his descriptions both visually and through the music we played in the area.
The area consisted of a raised stage/DJ booth and three facades that were lit from behind to make them look occupied.
We had a team of seven people made up of carpenters and volunteers who all brought their own ideas and materials that helped create the area.
