University of Worcester Project
As Malvern is considered to be a small but remarkable place, with a lot of landmarks to be visited, along with the fact that it is the main starting point for the “Route to the Hills”, the target audience consists of different categories and age groups. The signage system might be used by families, visiting the town or simply coming for a walk on the hills, tourists, interested in receiving more precise information on the route, international visitors, elderly people or people with disabilities.
No pictures were considerednecessary for the interpretation board, as if a person is on the place, he wouldsee the environment and the buildings, without the need of having a photograph.
The colours of the system areinspired from Malvern itself, as colourful and green town. Furthermore someelements of the environment could be also used to contribute to the consistencywith the town. For example, the interpretation board have a partial base ofstones and ivy, and would be placed in the Priory Park in front of theTheatres.
The top green bar has the shapeof Malvern Hills and is used to attract attention and to be easily noticeablefrom distance.
